This course is designed to introduce the students to the features available with the new POWER7 systems as well as provide information regarding recent updates to the Power Systems for AIX environment. Discussions will dive into what is new in Power Systems hardware architecture, AIX, PowerVM, PowerHA SystemMirror, and Power Systems management.

This course is intended for anyone responsible for purchasing, managing, and planning an IBM POWER7 server running the AIX operating system.

Students should have basic AIX and POWER6 LPAR system administration experience. The AIX prerequisite may be met by attending one of the following classes or students may have equivalent AIX skills:
Powers Systems for AIX II: AIX Implementation and Administration (AN12) / (AX12)
AIX 6 Jumpstart for UNIX Professionals (AN14)
The LPAR prerequisite may be met by attending one of the following classes or students may have equivalent LPAR skills:
